Square Enix announced that sales of "the Avengers" were below the company's expectations — only 60% (!) of the planned circulation was sold.
It is estimated that the game's budget was more than $ 100 million, while initial sales were only about 3 million copies. Because of this, the HD division of the company lost about $ 62 million — most likely, we are talking about the third quarter.
Such results, on the one hand, are predictable — there was never much excitement around the game, and the impressions of critics and players in the end turned out to be cool, and online quickly fell to minimum values.
On the other hand, this is "the Avengers" — a year and a half ago, "Finale" collected a record box office in theaters. It's still surprising to see that the multi-platform game ended up with worse sales than Insomniac's spider-Man two years ago on a single PS4.
But this seems to be the reality. A popular brand doesn't automatically make big sales.
